Detention report 1945 – Fleming Eduard Buntinx – Untersturmführer in the SS Division Wallonien.

Detention reports were prepared for every prisoner and contain information about the prisoner's identity and the circumstances of their arrest. These documents are a treasure trove of information.

Eduard Buntinx, born in Hasselt, volunteered for the Flemish Legion on 8 June 1941 and fought on the Leningrad front in 1942. He later completed officer training in Bad Tölz, where he was promoted to Untersturmführer. Remarkably, although he was Flemish, toward the end of the war he served as a Waffen-SS officer on the staff of the SS Division Wallonien, Regiment 69. In addition, he also held the rank of Bannführer in the Hitler Youth.
